The Study of Life Satisfaction Adjustment following a Change in Employment Status

Abstract
This research aims to explore the situation of unpaid-workers facing a higher possibility of exclusion from social security and increased social risks including influence of marker fluctuation. Firstly, the situation and change of the self-employed in Korea were considered. Secondly, using 1, 2 data of KoWePS, there was a comparative study done on the life satisfaction between paid-workers and unpaid-workers, examining the differences in adjustments wrought by the change in employment. The result of analyzing the differences in life satisfaction of workers, the study group which kept a paid-work force demonstrated a higher satisfaction than the group which maintained unpaid-work. Findings on the average life satisfaction evidenced that the workers with below 60% of average income which experienced employment change from paid-work to unpaid-work proved to have the lowest satisfaction when compared to them with keeping a unpaid-work. Finally based on these results, the direction and consideration of social welfare policy for small-scaled and self-employed person was discussed.
